Storm Warning for South Iceland

The police in Hvollsvöllur, South Iceland, have asked people not to travel in the region because of a storm currently hitting the southern coast.

The storm is strongest along the Ring Road near Eyjafjallajökull with winds of 144 km/h (90 miles/h).

No accidents have been reported as yet but in the village of Vík, a car window broke in the storm, ruv.is reports. 

The weather will not improve in the southern part of Iceland until tomorro afternoon.
