Reykjavík police have released a recording of an emergency call where a man requested assistance from search and rescue teams stating that a boat was starting to sink. An extensive search of Faxaflói Bay off Reykjavík was conducted but nothing was found.

Police suspect that the call was a prank, ruv.is reports. The man on the recording says: “We need help, we are in Faxaflói Bay, the boat is starting to leak a lot and we are putting on our floatation devices.”

Anyone who may recognize the voice or know anything about the matter is asked to contact police on +354 444-1000.
