The first division Reykjavík football club Þróttur recently signed a new player, 25-year-old American Matt Eliason.

Eliason has spent most of his career playing at Northwestern University, but came to Þróttur after a short period at the MLS team New York Red Bulls, visir.is reports.

A video of Eliason's bicycle kick goal at the Messi & Friends match in Chicago last year has had over 3 million hits.

Þróttur, which has the ambition to be one of the best football clubs in Iceland, signed a new coach, Englishmen Gregg Ryder, earlier this winter.
