U.S. publisher Melville House announced yesterday that it will release a book in the United States about outgoing Reykjavík mayor Jón Gnarr, how he ended up in the City Council and what triggered the formation of his Best Party, ruv.is reports.
The book, entitled Gnarr: How I Became the Mayor of a Large City in Iceland and Changed the World, has already been published in German by Klett – Cotta under the name Hören Sie gut zu undir wiederholen Sie.
Valerie Merians, publisher at Melville, said that they appreciated Jón’s blend of comedy and politics. “American politics is rather colorless these days. I think we can learn a lot from Jón Gnarr.”
Jón announced in October last year that he would not rerun in the elections in May and that Best Party members would be integrated into the Bright Future party.
