Heavy snowfall in the eastern and northern parts of Iceland over the last week led to several roads being closed. Some roads have now been reopened. Road 93 to the town of Seyðisfjörður opened this morning for larger vehicles. The road has been closed for five days.
Road 92 to Neskaupstaður has also be reopened but road 953 to Mjóifjörður, between Seyðisfjörður and Neskaupstaður, is still closed and will not reopen until late spring.
Road 61 over Steingrímsfjarðarheið, connecting the West Fjords with the rest of Iceland, is only passable with four wheel drive vehicles.
Oddskarð tunnel between Neskaupstaður and Eskifjörður in the East Fjords has reopened after filling with snow over the weekend.
