Around 5,000 scouts from 216 countries are expected to attend the 15th World Scout Moot in Iceland in 2017.

Organizer Hrönn Pétursdóttir expects that between 700 and 1,000 volunteers will be needed—both from Iceland and abroad—to make the tournament a reality.

The event will take place at Úlfljótsvatn near Þingvellir. Planning is ongoing in order to be able to receive such a large number of people including improvements to the camping area and facilities.

Activities will take place in different parts of the country including Akureyri, Snæfellsnes and Skaftafell, mbl.is reports.

The last time the tournament was held in Europe was in 1996 in Sweden.
