The month of February has been dry in Reykjavík with no snow or rain while there has been almost non-stop snow in the northern and eastern parts of Iceland.

The drastically different weather will continue this weekend with sun and mostly clear skies in South and West Iceland and more snow in the north and parts of the east.

Ring Road 1 from Reyðafjörður to Reykjavík is snow and ice free. Ring Road 1 from Lake Mývatn to Egilsstaðir, connecting North and East Iceland is closed, and is likely to remain closed for the next two days.
