The belongings of several well-known Icelanders are up for auction as part of Moustache March, an initiative to raise funds and awareness for cancer among men. Among the items put up for sale are Icelandic football star Eiður Smári Guðjónsen’s shorts from when he played for Chelsea, donated by his friend Auðunn Blöndal.
Other items include the guitar used by the main character in the film Metalhead (Málmhaus), donated by director Ragnar Bragason, entertainer Pétur Jóhann Sigfússon’s running shorts from last year’s Reykjavík Marathon. Pétur points out that the shorts were washed after the event, ruv.is reports.
The band Dimma have donated a custom-made microphone stand, actor Jóhannes Haukur has donated a meal and tickets for two to the theater and the chance to meet him after the show and director Bragi Þór Hinriksson has donated the last copies of the children’s film Sveppi og Leyniskápurinn, which sold out in stores.
The goods are for sale on bland.is.
As part of the initiative, men in Iceland are encouraged to grow moustaches this month to raise money and awareness for the Icelandic Cancer Society.
