In the first-ever Faroe Music Awards (FMA), held over the weekend, Icelandic musician Svavar Knútur and local musician Maríus Ziska received the award for Song of the Year for ‘Tokan/Þokan’ (‘The Fog’), visir.is reports. The pair sing together in Icelandic and Faroese.

“I met him at a songwriter’s workshop in Samsey in Denmark last year. We had to write a song, and we made the decision to put together a song where we combine Icelandic and Faroese experiences and vision,” Svavar explained on how the collaboration came about.

Svavar is currently in Germany on a two-month tour of Europe.

The Icelandic Music Awards were held on Friday.
