MP for the Social Democrats Sigríður Ingibjörg Ingadóttir and eight other MPs have put forward a proposal that the finance minister conduct an assessment of Iceland’s overall economic and commercial interests in whaling, as well as the impact on the tourism industry and Iceland’s position in international affairs and with individual countries.
The proposal calls for the minister to submit a report to parliament at the end of 2014, ruv.is reports.
