Icelandic Seaweed to be used in Sushi?

Eva Dögg Jóhannesdóttir, biologist at the West Fjords Natural History Institute, is currently researching the possibility of cultivating purple laver, an edible variety of red alga, to produce Nori sheets, which are used to wrap sushi pieces, ruv.is reports. 

According to Karl Gunnarsson at the Marine Research Institute of Iceland, purple laver is one of the most profitable goods cultivated in lakes and the ocean in Southeast Asia.
