Iceland’s star of the UFC is set to fight the country’s stars of computer game development in a bizarre, possibly bloody, sporting spectacle.
Mixed martial artist and Ultimate Fighting Championship star Gunnar Nelson will take part in ten different fights in a row when he comes head-to-head with staff members at the CCP computer games company, and their guests.
CCP announced this week that the staff members in question have been practicing hard for a year and been taking their physical and mental preparations for the fight very seriously.
The reason for the fights is CCP’s annual Fan Fest for its famous EVE Online computer game at the beginning of May. Vísir.is reports that a special fighting cage will be erected at the Harpa conference center, where the festival takes place.
“We’re taking this totally seriously and intend to beat him,” says Ragnar “CCP Loki” Eðvaldsson. “Our people have been training hard at the Mjölnir gym in recent months with that as their goal.”
Gunnar Nelson is a rising star in Mixed Martial Arts and is already a global name in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He remains unbeaten in his career so far, with twelve victories and one draw.
