Pollen is once again being counted by scientists in Iceland for the summer season to help hay fever sufferers.

The Natural History Institute of Iceland started monitoring pollen levels in Garðabær, near Reykjavík, and in Akureyri before the weekend and the results will be published weekly on the institute’s website, www.ni.is.

The goal of the project this year, as in previous years, is to help people who suffer from hay fever, according to Vísir.is.

The website also includes a pollen calendar, which displays average figures for various types of pollen. There it will be possible to check every day how high the hay fever risk is likely to be from different plant sources.
