Icelandair flights are running according to schedule today a day after the government passed a law making planned strikes by the airline’s pilots illegal, ruv.is reports.

Pilots expressed their anger yesterday following the announcement and some people have questioned the legality of banning workers from striking. “We have the law on our side and are very unhappy with the ban. There is a lot of anger amongst us,” Örnólfur Jónsson, head of the negotiation committee for the pilots, told mbl.is

CEO of Icelandair, Birkir Hólm Gunnarsson, said in a statement that he hoped that an agreement with pilots could be reached. If a new collective bargaining agreement between the Icelandic Airline Pilots Union and Icelandair is not reached before June 1, the matter will be taken to a special committee which will decide on a new agreement by July 1.
