The biggest media company in Iceland, 365 miðlar, has signed a contract with Condé Nast to produce an Icelandic version of Glamour magazine.
The company has for the last quarter of a century focused on radio, television and the newspaper business, as publisher of the largest newspaper in Iceland, Fréttablaðið. This is the first time an international magazine is published in Icelandic, Fréttablaðið reports.
Yesterday, 365 miðlar took over two television channels, Mikligarður and Bravo, from Konunglega kvikmyndafélagið (the Royal Film Company), founded by restaurant owner Sigmar Vilhjálmsson earlier this year. Sigmar, known as Simmi in Iceland, reportedly lost ISK 100 million on the venture, according to dv.is.
