Aron Jóhannsson will be the only Icelander to play in the World Cup in Brazil. U.S. coach Jürgen Klinsmann just announced the 23 players for the competition.

Aron, who was born in the U.S. but raised in Iceland is one of four forwards in the U.S. team. He currently also plays for AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands.

In other football news, the Greek champions Olympiacos are looking to buy Alfreð Finnbogasson from SC Heerenveen, in the Netherlands, where he had a great season as the top scorer in the Eredivisie (top league) with 29 goals.

The scores from Iceland’s top football division, Pepsi-deildin, last night: ÍBV Vestmannaeyjar 1 Víkingur from Reykjavík 2, Fjölnir 1 KR Reykjavík 1, Fram from Reykjavík 1 Breiðablik from Kópavogur 1, Stjarnan from Garðabær 1 Valur from Reykjavík 1, Þór from Akureyri 5 Fylkir from Árbær 2, Keflavík 1 FH Hafnarfjörður 1.
