Israeli photographer Erez Marom recently revealed some secrets behind another of his shots of Kirkjufell mountain, West Iceland, on the website of Digital Photography Review. In an article in his ‘Behind the Shot’ series, he writes about the ice shards on the bank of a shallow, ice-covered lake in the foreground of a shot of the mountain.

“It was a bit tricky getting close to the shards without ruining them, since the ice wasn't strong enough to hold the tripod and camera’s weight (not to mention yours truly!), so it was pushed down to the point that water started touching the shards and putting my precious foreground in peril,” he writes.

Marom is a regular visitor to Iceland, running winter photography workshops to the country.
