More than 60 percent of voters want to see Dagur B. Eggertsson of the Social Democratic Alliance as the next mayor of Reykjavík, according to a new poll published by daily Fréttablaðið today.
The controversial leader of the Progressive Party in Reykjavík, Sveinbjörg Birna Sveinbjörnsdóttir, has only 3.1 percent support. Meanwhile, Halldór Halldórsson, leader of the Independence Party in Reykjavík, has the second highest support with 16.8 support while Björn Blöndal of Bright Future has 5.9 percent. Last on the list, after the leaders of the Pirate Party and the Left Greens, is Þorleifur Gunnarsson of Dawn with 0.1 percent support.
Municipal elections will be held around the country tomorrow.
