Sales of new cars in Iceland in May were 51 percent higher than the same month last year, reports. As a result, Iceland’s car fleet is getting younger.

A total of 4,412 cars were registered in the first five months of this year, a 32 percent increase on last year.

According to Özur Lárusson, CEO of Bílgreinasambandið (an association of employers of companies which sell vehicles and related products and services), the stronger króna and decrease in inflation has made the price of new cars more affordable.
