Búi Bjarmar Aðalsteinsson, a graduate from the Icelandic Academy of the Arts, has created a food factory in a closet, creating food using liquefied larvae.
Búi Bjarmar has, in his zero waste micro larvae factory, created a range of food items based on everyday foods, with just one major difference: they are all produced using liquefied and blended insects. On the menu is larvae pâté, which is said to taste like chicken.
The idea was inspired by a 2013 report by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Edible Insects, which investigated how insects could solve food shortages.
Fly farmer Búi Bjarmar told the London daily, the Daily Mail that even though most people are very interested in the project and its prospects not everyone was willing to try the food.
