A search for two missing women has found one of the women dead.
The two women were last seen on Saturday. A search for them began yesterday afternoon, with search & rescue teams from across South Iceland taking part.
The two women in their thirties set off for a walk from a summerhouse in Fljótsdalshlíð, near Álftavatn lake in the southern Highlands.
Rescue teams later found one of the two women dead in Bleikársgljúfur canyon, DV.is reports.
A detailed search for the other woman is ongoing, but has so far revealed nothing.
It is known that the deceased woman is not a citizen of Iceland.
Specially equipped searchers, walking teams and divers are searching the area. Sniffer dogs and a Coastguard helicopter have also been scouring the area yesterday and today.
