The search and rescue team of Hornafjörður are looking for a French man who went hiking at Lónsöræfi, Southeast Iceland, on June 17 and has not been heard from since.

Before departing on the hike, the man said he would be away for a few days but eight days have now passed.

If the man is not located, the search and rescue team will look for him at Kollumúlaheiði. Popular walking trails in the area will also be searched.

A member of the team said in an interview with visir.is that the man is an experienced hiker and that it is too early to say whether the man is lost but that they would like to be certain that he is in fact OK. “… We are not too worried about him but he has not been heard from in some time,” he said.
