Sales of trips abroad have increased sharply in recent days as Icelanders go in search of some sunshine. Sunlight in the capital is at a 19-year low and not since records began in 1920 has there been more rainfall in Reykjavík during the month of June.
At the same time, the average temperature in Reykjavík was 1ºC (33.8ºF) warmer than the average temperature for June during the last decade.
With rain almost every day in the capital, sales of trips to sunnier destinations have increased by 20 percent compared to the same time last year, visir.is reports.
According to the Icelandic Met Office, less precipitation is expected during the month of August.
