Police received a call about an argument between a man and a woman in Reykjavík at around 8 pm on Friday night.

The man and the woman, who were in their fifties and sixties and had lived together for a number of years, had been fighting over a pair of socks, visir.is reports.

The police officers tried to help them settle the dispute but the man left the house and stayed elsewhere for the night.

In an unrelated incident, a man in his forties was arrested at around 11 pm on Friday night for stealing from a store on Austurstræti, downtown Reykjavík.

According to police, the individual had been arrested every night for the past two weeks for stealing. He has also stolen refreshments from hotels in the city and threatened staff, visir.is reports.
