A foreign couple were seriously injured near Bláfeldur in the southern part of Snæfellsnes peninsula, West Iceland, this morning when their motorcycle was blown off the road by a strong gust, resulting in the pair being thrown several meters from the vehicle, mbl.is reports.
The Icelandic Coast Guard helicopter transported them to the Landspítali National University Hospital in Reykjavík shortly before midday where they remain under medical care.
The woman has hurt her back and is reportedly more severely injured than the man, who was driving the motorcycle. Both were fully conscious when the police arrived at the scene.
The police do not suspect speed to be a factor in the accident, mbl.is reports.
