The eruption which started in Holuhraun lava field, north of Vatnajökull, yesterday morning, is subsiding quickly, ruv.is reports.

The eruption may only last for another few days, according to volcanologist Ármann Höskuldsson.

The fissure is 1.8 km (1.11 miles) long. At their highest, the lava fountains reached 50 to 100 meters (165-330 feet) into the air but are now around 10 to 20 meters.
