Holuhraun by Drone

Here is a really unique set of videos of Holuhraun, made by drone photography. Eric Cheng, director of aerial imaging for drone maker DJI, joined our friend, Icelandic photographer Ragnar Th. Sigurðsson, for a last-minute trip to the eruption site in the Bárðarbunga volcanic system at Holuhraun.

DJI's first video in a series called 'DJI Feats' takes you to the remote wilderness of an erupting Icelandic volcano, where Phantom 2 quad-copters are used to capture viewpoints of an exploding magma caldera too dangerous to be approached by manned aircraft.

A companion piece to the first 'DJI Feat' takes viewers on a journey close to the active lava eruption of the Bárðarbunga volcanic system in remote Iceland. Footage was captured with DJI Phantom 2 quadc-opters using Lightbridge for wireless, high-definition remote video.
