The Storm: Don’t Go Out!

From all over the country there have been news of roof slates blowing off, windows breaking, trees falling, etc. About 350 people have been called out on search and rescue missions.

Epic Storm Brewing?

Meteorologist Einar Sveinbjörnsson thinks the storm today might be on par with epic storms like the 1991 storm which literally lifted people and caused extensive property damage. The weather has already caused some disruption.

Person Fired for not Disposing Asbestos Safely

An employee of waste management company Íslenska gámafélagið was fired after it turned out that asbestos waste had not been disposed of properly but instead left in a non-secure area in Akureyri, North Iceland. Asbestos fibers can cause serious illnesses, including lung cancer.

EFTA Court Finds Icelandic Loans to Be Illegal

The EFTA Court ruled on Monday that it is not in compliance with the EU directive to base agreements for indexed consumer loans on zero percent inflation. Icelandic courts are to evaluate what effect the false information has had and what measures can be taken in response.
