A 48-hour strike among surgeons and psychiatrists at Landspítali National University Hospital began at midnight. At the same time doctors at other hospital wards concluded their 48-hour strike. No progress has been made in negotiations between doctors and the state.

The next meeting between the delegations of the Icelandic Medical Association and the state is scheduled tomorrow. Their last meeting concluded after only an hour yesterday afternoon, ruv.is reports.

No meeting has been scheduled in the wage dispute between surgeons and the state. Their last meeting was held on Friday. Further series of strike among doctors are coming up, operations are being postponed and waiting lists keep getting longer.

Meanwhile, music teachers have concluded their strike after achieving a new wage agreement with the municipalities earlier this week. University professors, who were also planning a strike, have now canceled their plans as a new wage contract was signed yesterday.
