Danish police are looking for a missing 20-year-old Icelander called Þorleifur Kristínarsson, who lives in the country.

Danish media reported that Þorleifur disappeared without trace at the weekend when he visited the town of Frederikshavn.

Þorleifur was last seen in Frederikshavn on Saturday. His phone is turned off and he has been out of contact since, Vísir reports. He is blind in one eye and has an eye disease which means he has to take medication at regular intervals and his family fears he does not have his medicine with him.

Þorleifur was wearing dark shoes, jeans, a green hoodie, black jacket and a black hat. Danish police are calling for information on the missing man on telephone number 114.

His mother has criticized police, saying that she contacted them on Sunday evening and was told not to worry, as he is 20 and probably just “with a girl or something”, Kristín Hulda says. She goes on to describe her son as a lovely boy with a beautiful soul.
