A body was found near the sculpture Sólfarið on Sæbraut by the seaside in central Reykjavík this morning, as confirmed by Reykjavík Metropolitan Police superintendent Friðrik Smári Björgvinsson.
A number of emergency vehicles, police cars, ambulances and equipment truck from the fire department, arrived at the scene. The operation was concluded before 11 am, Vísir reports.
“We aren’t prepared to release any details,” said superintendent Kristján Ólafur Guðnason. “The case is under investigation.”
Mbl.is reported that the body had clearly been in the ocean for some time.
