Around 10,000 members of the Federation of General and Special Workers in Iceland (SGS) will go on strike next week after the action was approved by vote. A total of 94.6 percent of the members who voted in favor of the action. The vote ended at midnight last night.
Workers will go on 12-hour strikes on April 30, May 6, May 7, May 19, May 20 and May 26, from midday to midnight. After that, workers will go on strike until further notice, mbl.is reports.
The series of 12-hour strikes will take place as follows:
Forty-two percent of members work in the food industry, including in fish and meat processing, 32 percent work in the service industry, including in tourism and cleaning.
