Three Icelandic companies have been nominated for the Nordic Council Environment Prize.
The prize is awarded to companies, organizations or individuals which have made steps to counter climate change, according to RÚV.
The Icelandic nominees are the environmental teaching website Natturan.is, Reykjavík Energy and the United Nations University Geothermal Training Program.
The prizes are being awarded for the 21st time this year and were founded in 1995 to publicize nature and environmental awareness.
On June 12 Reykjavík mayor Dagur B. Eggertsson will reveal which Icelandic nominee will make it to the final. The finalists are then assessed by a pan-Nordic judging panel and the overall winner will be awarded on October 27 at Harpa concert and conference center in Reykjavík.
