Public Sex in the Blue Lagoon a “Dwindling Problem”

People engaging in excessive PDA, and even public sex, in the Blue Lagoon has long been the subject of rumors.

“It’s a dwindling problem,” Atli Sigurður Kristjánsson, project manager for the Blue Lagoon marketing department, told Morgunblaðið.

The Blue Lagoon has strict rules on guest behavior, and four attendants carefully monitor the lagoon’s patrons at all times.

“It’s a part of their job to supervise guest activity. We are protecting the experience of all our guests, and all inappropriate behavior is therefore kept in check, since such conduct is not permitted.”

If guests are caught in the act, they are immediately ordered to leave the premises, since deeds of that nature are in breach of the terms of service, says Atli.

“We have cracked down hard on this issue.”

Reykjanes, where the Blue Lagoon is located, currently ranks as the 4th Best Under-the-Radar Romantic Destination in the world, on USA Today’s 10Best website.

Perhaps not coincidentally, the photo for the listing features an amorous couple relaxing in the Blue Lagoon.
