The northern lights gave a spectacular performance in the sky above the southwestern corner of Iceland last night. On its Facebook page, the Icelandic Astronomy Webpage calls it “the most magnificent northern lights show in years.” According to the Icelandic Met, the activity was substantial, but is likely to decrease in the next few days.
You can watch a video of last night’s spectacle on the Facebook page of the Icelandic Astronomy Webpage, which was recorded at Hotel Rangá in southern Iceland last night.
The Met Office provides daily Aurora forecast on its website, where you can find more detailed information regarding the northern lights. They are visible only when skies are dark and partly cloudy.
