In a recent poll conducted by MMR, the attitude of Icelanders toward the number of refugees from Syria to be accepted in the next 12 months was measured. On the whole, 88.5 percent of those who had an opinion said they wanted to receive some refugees. The number of refugees respondents said they thought Iceland should accept varied considerably:

Specifically, 19.1 percent of those who had an opinion said we should receive up to 50 refugees, 14 percent said we should accept up to 150 refugees, 25.2 percent were ready to accept 151-500 refugees and 30.2 percent were ready to accept more than 500 refugees.

Further analysis of the numbers shows that 10.7 percent of those who had an opinion thought Iceland should accept up to 250 refugees, 14.5 percent mentioned up to 500 refugees, 9 percent mentioned 501-1,000 refugees, 6.5 percent mentioned 1,001-2,000 refugees and 14.8 percent said Iceland should accept more than 2,000 refugees.
