Serbia beat Iceland 93-64 at the EuroBasket in Berlin today, RÚV reports. Logi Gunnarsson was the highest scorer on the Icelandic team with 18 points, and Hörður Axel Vilbergsson scored 8 points.
Iceland’s defense was outstanding today, especially during the first half. At the end of the second frame, the score was 42-32.
The Serbs picked up speed in the second half and went farther and farther ahead, resulting in a 29 point lead.
Coach Craig Pedersen said, “the struggle and brutality was there in the defense, but I was also happy with the offence.”
Iceland plays Spain tomorrow and Turkey on Thursday.
