A shallow earthquake, measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale, hit the southeast part of the Katla crater last night, RÚV reports. About ten aftershocks followed—all of them shallow. The Icelandic Met Office is following the area closely. The last eruption in Katla was in 1918.
