Next spring, the Icelandic budget airline WOW Air will start offering direct flights from Iceland to San Francisco and Los Angeles year-round, RÚV reports.
The airline has leased three new 340-passenger Airbus A330-300 aircraft for the new routes.
The flight to Los Angeles will be almost 7,000 kilometers (4,300 miles)―longer than any other flight from Iceland―and takes between eight and a half and nine hours.
San Francisco used to be served by Icelandair, but for the past five years, no direct flights between Iceland and California have been available.
WOW Air currently flies directly from Keflavík International Airport to four North American destinations: Toronto, Montreal, Boston, and Washington, DC.
