Dohop has won the title Best App/Website for Transportation, providing users with a search engine to find the best possible route between two places. The company was selected best of 20 nominees by the readers of USA Today.

Dohop was established in Iceland in 2004, Kjarninn reports, and its first edition of a flight search engine went online in 2005. The website is designed to simplify the search for an inexpensive flight, using software which looks up prices of numerous airlines and travel agencies on the web. Dohop owns and operates Dohop.is, as well as similar websites in 29 different languages, allowing you to find flights, hotels and car rentals.

Dohop CEO Davíð Gunnarsson was very pleased with the news: “This is fantastic. We found it terrific, but unexpected, to be nominated, since our share in the US market is not large. But to receive this recognition from the paper’s readers is unbelievable. In their eyes, we’re not an Icelandic company, but just an outstanding website.”
