A tourist who survived a car crash in Ljósavatnsskarð, Northeast Iceland, on November 24, has posted a video on YouTube of events leading up to the crash.
It’s considered amazing that everyone survived, but the driver of the car you see approaching had to undergo two major surgeries as a result of injuries sustained. He was able to get out of the car on his own, just before the car burst into flames. He was seriously injured and on a ventilator for four days. His injuries are not life-threatening, but he has a long battle ahead, Vísir reports.
One of the tourists is close to being released from Akureyri Hospital, but the other tourist will be there for a while, having undergone two major surgeries. The injuries are not life-threatening.
Both cars were completely destroyed after falling off a five-meter-high shoulder.
The video no doubt illustrates the danger of driving on icy roads. You may find watching it disturbing, but, hopefully, it serves to remind people to drive carefully.
