The bank robbery at Landsbanki on Borgartún, Reykjavík, on December 30, is still under investigation, RÚV reports.
Two men, both about 20 years old, will be in custody through January 14. One of them has confessed to the crime, but information has not been released regarding whether the second suspect has confessed. The man who confessed turned himself in after police distributed his photo, RÚV reports.
The loot was found early New Year’s Eve and the amount is said to be insubstantial.
Three other men had been arrested, but they were released after questioning. Chief Superintendent Friðrik Smári Björgvinsson says the three are not directly related to the robbery, but are suspected of involvement in a drug case, which was discovered during a house search following the bank robbery.
Further questioning of the suspects is planned, and witnesses have yet to be questioned. Forensic work, too, is still underway.
