For the first time ever, support for the Pirate Party has exceeded 40 percent, according to a new poll conducted by Fréttablaðið and Stöð2, Vísir reports.
The poll indicates that support for the Pirate Party now stands at almost 42 percent, up from 36.3 percent when a similar poll was conducted November 10-11.
The Independence Party comes in second, with 23.2 percent support, down from 29.3 in November. Support for the Progressive Party, the Social Democratic Alliance and the Left-Green Movement remains similar to what it was in November, or close to 10 percent. Bright Future, however, has less support than ever, on 1.6 percent.
The poll was conducted by phone January 26-27. Of the 801 people who were reached, 56.1 percent expressed their opinion.
