The Icelandic Met Office advises people to protect themselves against an increased risk of sunburn over the weekend. The reason is low ozone measured above Iceland, accompanied by sunny weather in many parts of the country.

If you’re planning to stay outdoors for extended periods of time, especially where the ground is snow-covered (creating a strong reflection), take extra caution to protect yourself against the stronger than usual ultraviolet rays by wearing sunscreen and sunglasses, the office advises.
