Close to 50 Tourists Stranded on Ice in Southeast Iceland

Tourists in danger at Jökulsárlón

Rescue workers from Hornafjörður have been called out to Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon to help tourists in trouble.

According to a press release from ICE-SAR, between 40 and 50 tourists are right now on a piece of ice, which is drifting away from the shore.

The people are not believed to be in imminent danger at the moment. The rescue team is expected to arrive in a few minutes.
