Icelandair’s flight, which was scheduled to go to Brussels this morning, has been canceled, following explosions at Zaventem airport shortly after 8 am local time, RÚV reports. An Icelandair flight had been scheduled to leave the airport for Keflavík at 1 pm local time. Guðjón Arngrímsson, public relations manager for Icelandair, said check-in had not begun for the flight when the explosions occurred. The airline, he stated, has no information on whether its passenger had arrived at the airport when the explosions went off.The airport has been evacuated.

Urður Gunnarsdóttir, a PR person at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, told RÚV she has no information regarding whether there were Icelanders at the airport when the blasts occurred.

A third explosion went off at the Malbeek metro station near downtown Brussels. The Brussels metro system has been closed.

BBC reports there are at least 13 casualties and at least 35 people severely injured.
