Reykjavík city council was last week informed that producers are hoping to film a new television series in City Hall.
The television program is called Borgarstjórinn (The Mayor) and will star former Reykjavík mayor and current head of domestic programming at 365 Miðlar, the comedian and actor Jón Gnarr.
The current mayor, Dagur B. Eggertsson, told Vísir that he will happily lend Jón his office for filming.
“There is work going on here at City Hall from morning to evening but we will be flexible wherever we can,” Dagur says—adding that Jón Gnarr is expected to be a daily guest at City Hall come the spring.
According to Ellý Katrín Guðmundsdóttir, municipal secretary, recording of the show is expected to run throughout May and on into June.
“Recording won’t be every day and we are keen for much of the recording to take place at the weekend when people are not working, so that there will be a minimum of disruption,” Ellý says.
