Aggressive Goose Breaks Man’s Arm

Have you ever heard of abuse by a goose? It happened by the entrance of the engineering firm Verkís. A goose threatened by the presence two men who walked past its nest, located in a flower bed beside the office entrance, attacked them, so that one of them broke his arm and the other one dropped his cell phone while recording. The area around the nest has since been fenced off in a peace-making effort.

It took the goose five days to lay its five eggs. During that time, it became aggressive when pedestrians ventured too close.

When Már Hallgrímsson, who works for Verkís, was on his way to the parking lot at the end of the day, he noticed a few geese. “I didn’t pay them any special attention, nor did I try to approach them,” he told Fréttatíminn. “One of them attacked me, so I retreated. I was so startled that I fell on the rear end and put my left arm under me, as you automatically do.” He made it to the car all right, but the following day, the arm was so swollen that he went to the ER where it was discovered that it was broken.

Since then, he has made peace with the goose. “My name is Már [meaning seagull]; thus, I’m also a bird. You can’t be mad at your own kind,” he explained.

You can watch a video of the attack here.
