Fine Me… ISK 6.5 Million

During the first two weeks of May, the police in South Iceland collected ISK 6.5 million (USD 52,000, EUR 47,000) in speeding tickets, RÚV reports.

During the two-week period, 150 drivers were stopped for driving too fast, 100 of them foreign tourist, speeding through the lovely landscape of South Iceland.

The speed limit in Iceland is 90 km/hour (56 miles/hour) paved roads, and 80 km/hour (50 miles/hour) on gravel roads.
