The entrepreneur who failed to deliver tickets to dozens of Icelanders who intended to attend the football match between Iceland and France in Paris last Sunday has resigned as CEO of Sónar Reykjavík ehf. The company is in charge of the Sónar Reykjavík Music Festival, which will be held for the fifth time in Reykjavík in February of next year.
According to RÚV, Björn Steinbekk announced on his Facebook page, “The Sónar Reykjavík Music Festival is a project I have put all my energy into in recent years and is in no way connected to the issues I’m faced with today. I do this in hopes that the festival may continue to be part of Iceland’s music culture.”
Björn insists he was deceived by UEFA regarding the ticket purchase to the EURO 2016 football game on Sunday, and states he is contemplating filing a law suit. He has promised to issue a refund to all those he failed to provide a ticket.
Those who are considering a lawsuit against Björn have created a special group on Facebook. One man who purchased a ticket from him has stated he intends to file charges against him with police if he fails to issue a refund.
